"...the sacrifice the Island demanded..."
Inspired by one of my favourite characters from LOST with a truely bittersweet story. She could have had an amazing life with James in Dharmaville but she chose to fight the Island and the Island fought back. I made this doll as a tribute to Juliet. The branch limbs represent the Island's hold over her.
Juliet has a plastic body and head with sleeping doll eyes that close when she rests. Her limbs are tree branches that are bound to her body with wool.
Can you give her a new home and help her find happiness again?

Dolls and poppets are used by many cultures around the globe as talismans for good luck or to ward off bad energies. Many believe that the uglier the doll, the more powerful it will be in it's protection of the home. In many practices of witchcraft sentimental objects are often used in spells as they are thought to hold powerful magick, which would make once loved toys extremely powerful. In combining these two traditions I hope that this doll would make a strong talisman in protection of the home.
All of my Abandoned Toys are created from discarded toys and parts destined for landfill and are cleaned thoroughly before customisation. I take found toys and customise them to represent the ugliness of our throwaway culture. I envisage how an Abandoned Toy would have to adapt after being forced to grow up and take on the world alone...
